The Effect of War on Daily Lives
The outbreak of war had an all encompassing effect on peoples' lives. It touched most aspects of daily life, from the food that they ate to the people that they saw. Perhaps most importantly people realized the gravity of the situation and were willing to make sacrifices for the betterment of the country.

Rations were are large part of peoples' lives. The quantity of food was restricted to civilians so that there would be enough food for the allied forces. People made do without certain items and they accepted it as part of their duty to go without. People did not complain about the rationing of food; it was just a fact of life. To the people of the time it was such a commonplace thing that it was accepted. The war had an impact on peoples' day to day lives, affecting even the smallest things such as the food that they ate.
War bonds were also bought by civilians in order to help fund the war. War bonds were advertised in many different manners including in comic books and by Hollywood stars. During World War Two the bonds raised $150 billion to help fund the war (Gordon). It was the job of the public to buy the war bonds and most families answered the call to help by purchasing bonds.
